Episode 43: Phood LLC

Food waste is a huge problem in America, especially at institutions of higher learning, where picky eaters toss away tons of food. Not only are thousands of tons of perfectly good food discarded on a daily basis, universities are literally throwing away money at a time when the cost for a four-year degree has skyrocketed.

Phood LLC, based in West Hartford, has developed a system for tracking and minimizing food waste on a massive scale, and they have already deployed their system to several schools across the northeast. They are already saving clients as much as 4% on their annual food costs, which as you can imagine adds up to a lot of food, and a lot of money.

Tune in as we talk to one of Connecticut’s most ambitious tech startups about crappy pizza and overcooked chicken.
